We left Anchorage and cruised on Holland America's
Statendam from Seward to Vancouver, for seven days and
seven nights. We saw glaciers, whales, beautiful scenery along
the inside passage. We ate very well - and too frequently -
enjoying the finest cuisine you can imagine. We spent one full
day
cruising Glacier Bay and visited the following ports along the way:
Haines, Juneau and Ketchican
At Haines one of the main attractions was Fort Seward, which was
established during the gold rush to keep order in the land. This
location
could monitor three different passes that led to the "gold fields".
There
were a lot of optional (and expensive) excursions that were available,
including fishing trips, helicopter rides to glaciers, and others, but
we chose to just walk around Haines and Fort Seward and then
returned to the Statendam early.
